Wine, sunshine and great friends; can you really ask for a better Sunday?
Sounds like perfection to me.
My friends and I recently took a trip down to Sakonnet Vineyard and spent the whole day tasting wine, indulging in a delicious lunch, tanning in the sun, and enjoying performances by the John Stein Jazz Quartet. The Jazz performance was actually a bonus as we didn’t even know there would be music. It might be just me, but wine definitely tastes better when you have beautiful music playing in the background…. We happen to run into the gentlemen that runs the music there and he let us know that they do this often. The property is absolutely beautiful. I’m nowhere near my wedding day, BUT I could definitely see myself getting married here in September someday!
My friends and I have taken a few winery tours before, so we decided to just do the tastings this time. For $14 you get seven tastings, which I think is very reasonable.
My two favorite wines were the NV Blessed Blend Red and 2012 Cabernet Franc Rose/Sacred Rose. Can’t go wrong with a deep, flavorful red wine. Speaking of red, my friends and I also sipped on luscious Carolyn’s Red Sangrias at lunch. I wish they had a few more gluten free lunch options, however I did enjoy the Sakonnet salad that was GF.
Our trip to the winery wouldn’t be the same without a stroll around the vineyard. Rows..and rows…and rows of heaven, I mean grapes.
Thank you Carolyn and the employees at the vineyard for such a great day!
