Dee Dee’s Top Picks: April 2015

Memories: (Insert head scratch here). You may be wondering what I mean by the word “memories,” since it’s not really a tangible item, but last month was a tough one for my family and I – we lost my Grammie. I wrote a post about her back in January when she turned 96; she was a tough cookie that one, but enjoyed the simple things in life. Although it was tough losing her, I was reminded of all the good times we had together, and how much she loved me, my Dad, Mom and sister. No material item can replace a memory. I know that my Grammie and I had a special connection, and that’s all that I need.

Sky Valley Sriracha Sauce: I think that sriracha has taken over as the new ketchup. I put it on EVERYTHING: eggs, potatoes, pizza, baked potato, stir fry, meat, fish, etc. It gives your food the perfect kick, and bonus it’s gluten free! I’m looking forward to checking out the brand’s Sweet Chili sauce and Korean BBQ sauce.

Coconut Oil: Okay so this really isn’t just my pick of the month, I’ve been using this stuff for months, but wanted to get the word out about this amazing product. On my face, in my hair, on my lips, in my cooking – this stuff is amazing.

Tito’s Handmade Vodka: Lately my go-to drink has been Tito’s and seltzer with a lime. Although I took a little break from drinking during my paleo challenge, I’ve always enjoyed a refreshing cocktail made with Tito’s vodka. The vodka is really smooth, and doesn’t have a harsh after taste like some vodkas can. Also, did you know, Tito’s vodka is distilled from 100% corn and is certified GLUTEN-FREE? Bomb. Next time you got to the bar, ask for Tito’s.

Thrive Market: I tried Thrive Market for the first time this month, and if I could fall in love with a food service, this is what I would call true love. All of my favorite gluten free, organic, paleo products right at my finger tips, and for a reasonable price. I took advantage of the free 30-day trial. After that, the company will charge your account $59 for the year. If I calculate how much I would save on buying ghee from this service for the whole year, the membership practically pays for itself ($7.95 on Thrive Market, $13 at WholeFoods – that’s a $5 per jar savings – bought 9 times a year = roughly $45 total). Wow, that was a lot of math, but you get the idea! If you are going to buy these products regularly anyways, why not save by using this service!

Fifth Harmony Playlist: This playlist on Spotify is constantly on repeat when I run. Can’t get enough of it when I’m struggling to run that last half of mile.

Applegate Products: I am extremely impressed with the products from Applegate. I especially love the Gluten Free Natural Turkey Bacon and the Organic Genoa Salami. I used the salami for a party platter I put together for work. Cheese and salami skewers!

Women’s Bean Boots by L.L. Bean Gore-Tex/ThinsulateI’ve been waiting since Christmas to get my L.L. Bean boots, and they finally came in! I’m the type of person that loves to rock these boots just as much as my high heels.

Thanks for reading. Have a wonderful May everyone!
