So you’re snowed in and hungry – you’ve got ground turkey in the freezer, a drawer full of vegetables in the fridge and a cabinet full of spices, what do you do? You make delicious chili from scratch in the crockpot. This recipe is naturally gluten free and packed with veggies and spices to keep you full and warm on those cold winters days.

Ingredients – serves 8
2 pounds of turkey hamburger
1 whole white onion
3 stalks celery
1 green pepper, yellow pepper and red pepper
1 can black beans
3 cloves of garlic (crushed)
1 can tomato purée (28 oz)
1 can tomato sauce (8 oz)
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon pepper
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1 tablespoon dried basil
1 tablespoon oregano

Place the ground turkey in a skillet over medium heat, and cook until evenly brown. While that is cooking, chop up your peppers, onions and celery and pop into to the crock pot.

Once your turkey is done, drain the grease and add turkey to the crock pot. You may also want to add a half of cup of water if it looks a little dry.

Add your spices, minced garlic and drained can of black beans, and stir all together. Let cook for at least 3-4 hours to allow vegetables to cook. Stir about every hour.
